Day 5 HOMEWARD BOUND

"But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves." James 1:22

Great training scene from Star Wars Empire Strikes Back
Luke: All right, I'll give it a try.
Yoda: No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try

“Walk right side road, safe. Walk left side road, safe. Walk middle "guess so", sooner or later, squish, just like grape.” Those were the wise words of Mr. Miyagi from “The Karate Kid”.

I thought that I would share two quick thoughts that I have had while I have been talking with people here about walking in Christ. Yes, I have been on vacation and YES I talk with people about Christ on vacation. It's who I am and HE is the best so why wouldn't I talk about HIM? That's not one of the thoughts, sorry for digressing.

I was reflecting on this text from James 1:22 and thought about these two movie scenes. I probably should be remembering some profound book that I've read from some great saint or something but these two scenes kept playing out in my mind so I figure it must be the Holy Spirit.

The first scene from Star Wars is when Luke was getting trained by Yoda. I love it because it is so straight forward and is a great reminder for us as we ask the question 'what would Jesus do?' Here is the guarantee about Jesus. He would DO SOMETHING that is 100% for sure! I can even hear Yoda's voice in my ear "No. Try not. Do or do not. There is no try." Sounds just like James

The second scene is from Karate Kid and it is right at the very beginning of Daniel's training in Karate. Remember right after this scene he will start washing Mr. Miyagi's cars. Hysterical. How about this interaction? 'Are you going to ask the question 'what would Jesus do?' I guess so. Brothers and Sisters-san. Walk right side road, safe. Walk left side road, safe. Walk middle "guess so", sooner or later, squish, just like grape.” I don't know about you but I don't want to get squished just like a grape.

Go for it today. James said it best really. Don't just hear the Word. DO IT! Way before Nike and much BETTER! Have fun. Can't wait to be home. Much love. LGLO, Pastor Peter
